5 Things To Do To Thrive As An Adult

Does anyone love being an adult? I don’t know about you, but when I was a kid, I thought the adults had it easy. Being an adult seemed like so much fun, but now that I’m here… I don’t know why I ever fell for it. There are so many things involved when it comes to adulting and sometimes, it feels like a never-ending rat race. The list just goes on and on, right? But, one thing to keep in mind is that although there is no “right” way to adult, there are some things that you can do to thrive! Here are 5 things to do to thrive as an adult. Hopefully this list will help you keep things a bit less stressful:

Start flossing and get your teeth cleaned regularly

I don’t love going to the dentist, but it’s one of those things that we just need to do, in order to make sure that we are as healthy as possible. Take that extra 30 minutes twice a year to make it happen! And in the meantime, make sure you have a great night-time routine, that includes flossing, along with other nightly essentials such as a great facial routine and maybe even a stretching session to help you wind down and get great sleep!

Talk to the people you love more often

This is all something we want to do more but we never do! We typically put it on the back burner saying things like, “I just don’t have time today,” or “I’ll do it tomorrow.” Want to know a little trick to making sure you have the time? Stop putting it off and instead, start multitasking more often! Doing your makeup? Prop your phone up and give them a call while you’re getting ready. Call while you’re getting in the car until you get to your destination. Cooking dinner? Talk on speaker phone! As little of an effort, this is, it is often overlooked. Give someone a call today! Your relationships with your family and friends will be greatly benefitted from it – trust me.

Give yourself self-care days more often

No matter if you are in a committed relationship or a solo gal ready to take on the town, adulting nowadays means taking the time to sneak away to care for yourself. Luckily for you, there are so many ways to do this! No matter what you do, giving yourself love and focusing on self-care days helps to wind down and reconnect with yourself after the hustle and bustle of everyday life (especially if you are working or going to school!). Self-care can look different to each individual! Maybe important “you” time looks like a long walk with a fresh-pressed juice after a long day at work, painting with some good tunes, getting your nails done, or sleeping in one day a week. Whatever that looks like for you, do it! Schedule it in your calendar if you have to. Make it a priority!

Fuel your body with healthy foods

If you are on the go a lot, it’s easy to just pick up whatever food item is most convenient. Fast food? Check! A protein bar? Okay! But, what if you actually took the time to fuel your body with healthy foods? Foods that made you feel amazing? Meal prepping and planning can definitely help you with that! Planning out meals will save you so much money because having a fully stocked fridge will hopefully prevent you from dining out or getting take-out. This also eliminates the struggles of what dinner will be after a long day because everything is already planned and bought. Once you have your list put together, take one day a week and prep everything ahead of time, so your “grab and go” is still easy, but also healthy.

Stop doing everything on your own

The other day, I read about a One thing you have to learn as you adult? Stop doing everything yourself. For example, we don’t color and cut our own hair because we are not professionals, right? That’s the case even though cutting our own hair would be much cheaper. The same principle goes for a lot of things. Another example of this is moving. We COULD move ourselves to save money, but are we professionals at it…and do we really want to lug around a huge washer and dryer, or safe? Not me! And I don’t know many others that actually enjoy moving. When you do decide to stop doing everything yourself, make sure you find local businesses that have great reviews. My hair salon is great! For movers, Bluebell Relocation Services, is a NJ local moving company, who can help you with furniture moving, packing services, storage, furniture assembly, and even home staging, too. If you are moving in the area, you absolutely need to check them out and see how they can help make the process much easier on you.
